How hot is it on Mt. LeConte in the Smoky Mountains?

If you're planning on hike up to Mt. LeConte in the Smoky Mountains don't expect the usually cooler weather. This week's heat wave broke the all-time record on Mt. LeConte when the temps reached 81.5 degrees.

And some parts of the Park are or were closed because of a bad storm that took down trees. I imagine they are mostly back open by now, but it was really bad. Several people were killed.

It was 91 in my mountains when it was 105 back home. We were all thankful for the "coolness".

Actually, there's still lots of trail damage from that horrific storm. Some trails are totally closed, some are closed to horses and some the park has not yet been able to check out: http://hikinginthesmokys.blogspot.co...of-trails.html
