have stayed at the Monte Carlo, the Paris, Tropicana, Bellagio, and the Aladdin. The Aladdin was the WORST. Check in was an hour long nightmare. The place was slapped up fast and it shows. The walls are paper thin--you can here everything in the room next to you. When they flush a toilet it sounds like Niagara Falls. The furniture, fabrics, linen--everything was the cheapest they could get away with. Was not impressed by anything that the hotel had to offer. The mall is doing so miserably bad that the staff calls it the Deserted Passage instead of the Desert Passage. Sorry for all the negativity, but I wouldn't stay there again for free.

Thanks, well I got Monte Carlo for $99 on Sat night, so I think that's where we are going.

Ken, I think you overpayed. I've seen weekends at the Monte Carlo for $69.

Monte Carlo is great. It is small enough that you don't have to walk a mile to get to the elevator for your hotel room, in fact, you don't even have to go into the casino (unlike most of the other hotels). It is not a crazily 'themed' hotel so there is very little traffic, and is thus quiet and pleasant at the end of the day. They have a monarail that goes directly to the Bellagio. Rooms were nothing special, but they were clean, nicely furnished, comfortable, and quiet.

Ellen was pretty perceptive.
Aladdin was slapped together quickly and cheaply...and it does show.
Less than a year after opening it had already fallen into bankruptcy, and that's why service is poor, linens are cheap, and prices are often low...that's all by necessity.
That said, if you get a room down in the sub-$70 range at Aladdin, it's still better than Luxor, Flamingo, Harrah's and those kinds of places.

BTW, the shop tenants in the Desert Passage mall filed a lawsuit against Aladdin's owners quite some time ago. Aladdin's advertising efforts were so poor that business in the DP has been abysmal. it often is the "deserted passage".

A simple case of how in Las Vegas it's not always true that if you build it they will come.

The aforementioned experiences at Aladdin are unfortunate. I've stayed at many great places on the strip also, including Aladdin and we LOVED aladdin-especially the desert passage...whatever, just my 2 cents.
Check out www.vegaswatch.com and go to the forums-there are reviews on many casinos there.

I'm going the Saturday after Thanksgiving, so maybe that's why it's a little higher. I'll keep my eyes open for better rates, Thanks.

Kenneth, check out the MGM Grand as well. Yes, it's HUGE, but it's one FUN place as well! I also ditto Ellen's remarks about the Aladdin--stay away!!

Stayed at Aladdin last November and again just last month, and I must disagree with a couple of the respondents. On both occasions, I found the Aladdin to be a very good choice. But I've three pretty minor complaints: One, the windows in the standard rooms are small; two, the pool area is only average and three, the casino area is a cheap-funky. Other than those, I found my two stays at Aladdin top quality all around. As a frequent visitor to Vegas, I rate the Aladdin as a high quality property; one that will certainly get my business again.

No idea for room, ground floor shops are ok but beware of the biggest RIP OFF, all their restaurants, all are expensive and foods are way below expectation. Better trip Paris, Venetian or Caesar's.

We just returned from Aladdin. I chose it because of the location and the rate. We were very pleasantly suprised. The room was much nicer and bigger that I anticipated. It is a perfect location, and if you ask for a room facing Bellagio you can get a great view of the fountains. I found the buffet to be okay, but I would walk next door to Paris as their buffet was much better (I thought Bellagio's was slightly better but not as good as the Paris buffet). The service was great - our room safe was not working when we arrived and they had someone up to fix it within five minutes of our phone call. I am a very light sleeper and did not have any problems with noise - this may have been because the hotel was not very busy, Check-in wa very quick and they were great about keeping our luggage for use until our room was ready. Also, drink service at the casino was better than any place else we tried (all of the large Strip casinos). The only things I did not like are as follows: they serve Pepsi not Coke, the theming is not nearly as good as many of the other large Strip hotels, they never have $5 tables even when empty (Bellagio and Treasure Island do), they do not attract the large crowds so you can wind up playing by yourself, towels were thin. Still, it was a great deal and location, and if your room is important to you and you want to spend less than $100 a night, you can't go wrong.
