Houston GTG - Saturday April 14th
An impromptu Fodor's Get ToGether will be held at the Jones Rotary House on Holcombe Blvd. Time to be announced; early to mid afternoon most likely.
This might just be the first medically induced GTG!
Let me know if you can come. Would love to meet you.

Do all participants need to be medicated?
I'm often a hypocondriac...
I'm looking forward to the details. I'm working as my Mom's manual labor this weekend so I'm definitely looking forward to the diversion. It will be great to meet the Guru of Albuquerque. (A new title I've bestowed upon you.)

Oh shucks! I always miss out! I'm leaving the 14th for Vegas. Too bad because the rotary house is a hop skip and jump away from my office too. (I work at MD Anderson). No chance of doing it on Friday instead? I'll definitely be able to go then!

I think it pretty much has to be Saturday since some of the folks coming are headed from Austin area and need the time.
Maria, maybe we can meet for coffee on Friday? I am recovering after surgery at Rotary. Email me directly, if you'd like.

Darn! I'll miss being in town for another one. I won't be back in H-Town until November this year, although my DH will be there in May.
I hope to be at the GTG in spirit, however. I wish I could send my sister (aka StatiaSis) on my behalf, but she will be here on the island visiting me for my birthday. So, she won't be in town, either.
I would so love to meet some of my hometown Fodorites one of these days (and Debi, I think you are pretty much considered hometown folk in Houston now
). So, perhaps I will have to plan my own GTG the next time I'm there.
Have fun y'all and please post a report and photos!
Debi, I hope you are on the mend and it's awfully nice of you to plan such an event with what all you have been thru.

Booking my flight. For those of you there in Houston, what do you recommend for lodging? I'm alone so no dive moldy hotels, plzzzzzzz! I'll rent a car & I have the choice of either airport -- I think Debi is closest to Hobby, right??
This should be fun!! Bring your party hats!

Hobby (HOU) is closer to Texas Medical Center, but on weekends, traffic from Intercontinental (IAH) isn't bad either.
As for lodging, if you have a car and doesn't have to be near the Texas Medical Center, you can try Priceline for Downtown and the Galleria Area. Both are decent 4* hotels and using Priceline, they are usually no more than $60. Downtown hotels and some at the Galleria will have parking charges, however.
