hotels or condo for less??

Is it going to be possible to stay on Maui & BI for under $200 per night-with ocean view? I see all kinds of high dollar stuff. Is this what to expect in Hawaii or can't an average working guy afford to take his wife there? I do see some hotels for less, but they are city view. We aren't going until October 2004. Thanks in advance for any recommendations!!!

Condo's are the best value in my opinion, we have stayed at a 1BR Kahana Condo's for about 150 a night on Maui with partial ocean view and have seen other condo's for less at www.vrbo.com.
Also consider checking out websites of hawaiian travel agencies for hotels and condo's. A great guide to condos on Maui with aerial photo's is "Maui Revealed" available at Borders, Barnes & Noble etc. (www.wizardpub.com).

Here is a link with many hotel rooms under $200 http://www.hotelonsale.com/asp/shHotels.asp?ARID=3
(Have not used personally)
Good Luck!

I was just surfing through Aloha Airline's web site and on their hotel and car link, they had some very good rates. The are called E Special rates which means that your credit card will be charged in full at the time of booking. I thought that $291 was comparably good for the Embassy Suites and of course there were a lot of lower priced properties on the site as well.

That's a great time of year to go. Try vrbo for direct rentals. Also check www.wizardpub.com to see the aerial view of the place before you rent so you can see if it's actually on the ocean or not.

Try places like Kamaole Sands in Kihei. Great condos, close to the beach, and shops and food....
