I stayed at the Tropi-Rock in June. I was there on business. I'll have to say I was not impressed with the place at all. The pool is very small, there are no clocks in the rooms (I was on business and needed one), we couldn't make outside calls for 1 day, there were ants in some of the rooms. The walk to the beach is about 1 1/2 blocks. I would suggest something right on the road over looking the beach or farther down right on the beach. The Sheraton Yankee looked nice. We had business at the Marriot Harbor Beach next door to the Sheraton and that was right on the beach and very nice too, although these are probably more expensive then the Tropi-Rock, I'm sure it will be worth it! Enjoy!

I have lived in south Florida for over 20 years, 8 miles from the beach. On Ft Laud beach there are a lot of small, less known mom and pop places that may not be great for children. I have no ideas on the Tropi-Rock.
My suggestion would be the Mariott Harbour Beach Resort which is located right on the ocean. Beautiful. Bahia Mar Resort and Maria in excellent. Very upscale (as is the Harbour Beach). I do have more experience with Bahia Mar. There is a cross walk that leads to the beach since it is on the intercoastal side. There are multi million dollar yachts that are docked at their marina, which is always a treat to look at . There is a very nice pool that on most weekends they have a regae (sp) band playing. Lots of fun! They have a great little market there too where you can purchase lunch items, and wlak to the beach and have a picnic. There are picnin tables on the beach side. A small swingset too.
Overall my suggestion would be the Bahia Mar.
Give them a call, perhaps they have a website, if not I am sure they can send you some info.
Have fun and don't forget the sunscreen.

I stayed at the Mariott Harbour Beach Resort with my family (including my then 5 year old brother) about 7 years ago. It is on the beach and has a beautiful large pool. You can walk to shopping and some great restaurants. We had a partial ocean view room, which was great, because we could see both the pool and the ocean. I think it may have been a bit expensive though.
