hotels in Coronado

Planning a trip to San Diego in October and am looking for a hotel in Coronado. Any recommendations? I believe we have narrowed it down to the Loews and the Hotel Del Coronado.

Thanks

Stay at the Del-in the original part. It is a wonderful older hotel. The grounds are beautiful. You will love it.

Loews is not exactly in Coronado. It is on the Strand which is about a 10 minute drive from the village. The Hotel Del is a good choice. You should also check out the Coronado Marriott.

Hi Lauren,

I just got back from staying at the Coronado Island Mariott Resort. This is a very nice, but also very expensive hotel. It costs $14 a night to park your car in the garage. Breakfast buffet is $17 per person. The pool area is nice and it has a great view of downtown San Diego. Feel free to email me with questions about Coronado or San Diego!

The Del is one of the most beautiful hotels on the planet...why stay anywhere else. As the above poster mentioned, stay in the old part. They have just done an extensive renovation also. It's gorgeous!

I've stayed at both, and these are the major differences I experienced. The hotel Del has the charm and ambience of the old victorian era. However, depending on how much you spend, the rooms are pretty small. the del is in a much nicer location than loews. the del is right on the beach, with a gorgeous outdoor patio to sip your favorite cocktail while gazing at the pacific. i would say the only think that loews has over the del is the size of the rooms, and its tucked away in a more quiet location.

that's my 2 cents...enjoy your vacation
