hotel washington or the four points sheraton?
We're booking with a tour company to go to the 2003 World Figure Skating Championships in Washington D.C .The two hotels they are offering are the Hotel Washington or the Four Points Sheraton.Being from Canada ,we are not familiar with the city ....any advice on which to book?

Not familiar with the Sheraton, but I would stay at the Hotel Washington. It's a great location--directly across the street from the Treasury Building, which is right next to the White House. And you're not far from the Mall. You're also very close to the Old Ebbitt Grill, which is one of my favorite restaurants in D.C.
Even if you don't stay at the Hotel Washington, go there some evening for a drink in their rooftop bar/restaurant.

I would suggest the Hotel Washington, especially if you have never been to DC before. The location is great. I think some rooms overlook the White House, which you will be right next to, as well as dozens and dozens of tourist attractions. All of the major DC sites are within walking distance. If you are in DC in the spring or summer, it has a great rooftop bar/restaurant, popular with the locals.

I would also recommend the Hotel Washington. I think the Sheraton Four Points is on K St, between 11th & 12 th Streets (the address would be some number between 1100 and 1200 K St.). It used to be a motel-type place whereas the Hotel Washington has been a hotel forever. Hotel Washington's location is definitely better.
