Hotel suite? New York city? 2 adults, 1 child
We are going to New York this summer for a few days and taking 10 yr old daughter. Does anyone know of any hotels that may have suites or sofa beds? So many of the rooms I have stayed in are very small. Would like to stay in times square/ broadway district. Any recommendations? Also if anyone has taken children and has some great ideas....I would love to hear them. Thanks!

When my 2 kids were younger we stayed at the Grand Hyatt (by Grand Central Terminal) several times. It's not in your preferred location though. I don't recall if we had a jr suite or a 2 double room.
The Hilton Times square allows rollaway into the king bed rooms - that's what I would do with one child.

If I were going to NYC with a 10 year old I wold stay on the upper west side - not Times Square. to be closer to Museum of Natural History, Central Park, the Met etc. And not really any further from a lot of other kid friendly sights - and a host of good quality, inexpensive and child friendly restaurants (versus the limited choices near Times Square). I beleive there is also a Doubletree neat Times Square.
You have been given some choices for TS (but Radio City apartments is probably already booked) but might want to consider the Beacon - in a much more pleasant neighborhood.

Thanks. I guess I just assumed theatre district would be best, but we don't have to stay there. We definitely will be going to the museum of natural history, a show.....Wicked( unless people have a better idea), centRal park zoo, FAO Schwartz, American doll, empire state bldg, maybe china town. Right now I see some deals at Helmsly Park Lane, best western president plus....any thoughts? What are the names of some of the hotels in the upper west side?

I have been researching this same issue for October, and this is the best deal I can find: http://www.affinia.com/New-York-City...Eastgate-Tower
Eastgate Tower gets good comments on TripAdvisor, too: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev..._New_York.html

Im not clear on what your budget is, but we just stayed at The Royalton, which is on 44th between 5th and 6th, and our room, a deluxe king, was very large. It's not a suite, but it might work with a cot. Service at this hotel was brilliant, so I am certain they would try to accommodate you.

On the upperwest side check the Beacon, the Lucerne, On the Ave and the Excelsior Al are near the park and Nat'l Hist Museum. If you don;t see suites on the website just call them for info.
IMHO a much nicer meighborhood - mid/upscale residential that is busy with lots of shops and restaurants - but not frantic like Times Square.
