Hotel Rex, San Fran...Any thoughts?

We will be going to San Francisco for the first time in August. For the first three nights, we are scheduled to stay at the Hotel Rex. Has anyone been? Any comments or advice would be highly appreciated.

Also, after a jaunt to Napa and Carmel, our last night in San Francisco will be spent at W. Have you heard anything about it?

Thank You

I surprised my wife with a trip to San Francisco this past weekend to celebrate our 5-year wedding anniversary. We stayed at Hotel Rex and I want to let you know you'll be extremely pleased. I didn't know anything first-hand about the hotel before making reservations, but took a chance and made reservations based on my research and what I'd read about it. And I'm glad I did. The hotel completely exceeded my expectations. The rooms are fantastic, and the decor and ambiance are unsurpassed. It was refurbished four years ago, and done in a retro 1930's motif, with an artistic and literary flair. The hotel is extremely unique, and very intimate. Most of the time my wife and I were there, we felt like we were the only guests. The hotel's staff was very friendly and polite, and its location in Union Square can't be beat. You definitely made the right choice!

I will be going to San Franscisco in September and am looking for hotels. The Rex sounds great. Does it have a website and what is the price range?

Thanks

The rate for the Hotel Rex (in August) comes out to $205/night for a king deluxe room.

Hope this helps!

Yes, they do have a web site: www.sftrips.com. The Rex is part of a company of boutique hotels. I paid $195/night for a king executive suite (basically a slightly bigger room plus couch).
