Hotel reservations in/near Denali NP
I started looking for lodging in or near Denali NP for June 2016 and am not finding availability online. Is everything already booked or are they not taking reservation for next year yet?
I will be coming from Seward so I was looking maybe at something south of the Park entrance. Any recommendations?

Try the Denali Dome Home http://denalidomehome.com/ in nearby Healy. It is a B&B but there is plenty of room and privacy. Breakfasts are excellent and the hosts are gracious and very helpful.

Hi all
I called a couple of hotels and it seems they really don't start taking reservations for next summer until the beginning of next year. When we visited Yellowstone NP we had to make reservations a year ahead of time. That is why I was looking so early. So I guess I'll chill out for a while.
Thanks for all your advise and I'll keep checking in on trip reports for ideas on things to do

I've been researching a trip to Alaska in early June 2016.
I did find that there is a B&B near Healey that also rents cars.
You can only drive to MP 15 on the Denali Highway without a permit. From there you have to take a shuttle bus or a guided tour bus.
I was also considering taking the Alaska Railroad from either Fairbanks or Anchorage to the stop near the Denali entrance and taking a shuttle bus from there.
You do have to carry in anything you want to eat/drink from outside the park. Places to buy anything are very limited inside the park.
The shuttle buses started running on June 1 this year.
DW and I are hoping to make it as far as the Eilson Center at MP 66.
Here's hoping that the weather is clear in June and that we get some great pictures. There are times when they shut down the dirt/gravel "highway" when it is soft or there is rain/snow.
The shuttle bus and tour bus prices and schedule are set about December 1 each year.
