Julie: My wife and I have been to Waikiki twice and both times have stayed at the Waikiki Parc. This hotel is across the street from the beach, is priced accordingly. It is a AAA 4 diamond hotel that is immaculate. They usually throw in a superb breakfast buffet with the room. It is centrally located very near downtown shopping and some very nice beaches. We love it!

There's only one place to stay in Waikiki: The Halekulani. It's one of the best hotels in the WORLD. Obviously a little more expensive then the others, but if you're only there for two days - the impact on the wallet not astronomical. (Warning, the ocean view rooms are SUPER expensive. The garden rooms are still tremendous and offer a less expensive way to stay in an amazing hotel.) My philosophy is that this is your vacation and you should pamper yourself whenever possible. If you can afford it, DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT STAYING ANYWHERE ELSE in Waikiki.

Julie: I agree with Josh..the Halekulani is one of the best hotels in the world...but is very pricey. What I should mention is that the Waikiki Parc is also owned and operated by the Halekulani Corporation...All the expertise and service without the big bucks!

We have stayed at the Sherton Moana Surfrider, right on the beach and the oldest historical hotel in waikiki. The hotel in victorian in flavor and while not as luxurious and as expensive as the Halekulani, it offers a great location and great service. We enjoyed a few days there last year. Ask to be put in the old part of the hotel not the new building. Our room was extremely big considering how many hotels in the waikiki area have very small rooms. The bath was large and we has older wooden shutters on the windows that gave it a plantation feel. There is the oldest banyan tree on Waikiki located out front on the brounds and it has been the historical site of the famous Hawaii Calls radio shows many years ago. The best part of the stay was breakfast on the veranda,. felt like we were at old plantation. Waiters wore white gloves. There is nightly hawaiian entertainment in the banyan tree area. We would recommend the hotel. Location can't be beat and the price will not break the bank.We thouroughlt enjoyed ourselves.

We stayed twice at the outriggers (reef/beach, and Waikiki), at 128/ntUS$, and were very happy with the rooms, amenities, etc.. PLUS, both these are located NEXT DOOR to GREAT elegant hotels at twice/3 times the rate! Depends on how you want to spend your bucks.....Outriggers were immaculate, comfortable, polite and friendly staffed. We would do it again, for those brief Oahu visits when accomodations aren't really the focus of your 2 night stay.
