Mids: Radio City Music Hall is at the corner of 50th Street and the Avenue of the Americas (aka 6th Avenue and hereinafter abbreviated AotA) in the middle of Rockefeller Center. There are no hotels in Rockefeller Center. However, the Loews, a massive convention hotel (50 stories, 1000 rooms) is at AotA and 53rd Street, basically 450 feet away. I've stayed there many times, it's finel.

The Sheraton New York and Towers is at 53rd and 7th Avenue, the Michaelangelo is at 52nd and 7th Avenue. Below that, you're getting toward Times Square, where you said you didn't want to stay.

Going east to 5th Avenue, there's the Peninsula at 5th Ave. and 53rd St. If price is truly no object, that's the place to stay. Also on 53rd between 5th and AotA is the Shoreham, one of the new "European" style hotels done in funky style.

Does this help?

The New York Hilton and Towers, 1335 Avenue of the Americas at 53rd Street, 212-586-7000 or 800-HILTONS, is right across the street from Radio City Music Hall and is a good choice. Good luck.

The New York Hilton is very close, but it is a mediocre hotel as far as I can tell from my $300 a night room there last weekend.
New York has a vast range of hotel styles and personalities. If I wanted to stay close to RCMH I'd choose from among the Algonquin, the Royalton and the Mansfield, all about four blocks away. If money does not matter, pick the Royalton.
