HOTEL LUXOR OR BALLYS-LAS VEGAS

I HAVE SEARCHED THROUGH LOTS OF INFORMATION REGARDING THESE 2 HOTELS AND REALLY CANNOT DECIDE. ONLY ABOVE HOTELS IN THE CHOICE WITH TRAVEL PACKAGE. THERE WILL BE A 10 YEAR OLD CHILD WITH US AND WE DON'T WANT TOO MUCH NOISE AROUND US. APPRECIATE LONG WALK FROM LUXOR BUT NOT TOO BIG A FACTOR. ROOMS NEED TO BE MODERN, BRIGHT, SPACIOUS AND NOT LOOK DATED.WOULD LIKE A REALLY NICE POOL AREA. ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE?

Tina,

I have only stayed at lthe Luxor but it is a great hotel. The rooms in the pyramid only have a shower ( no bath) and the passageways are directly above the casino so the lower floors may be slightly noisy (although the rooms should be fine) The tower rooms have both a bath and a shower.

The pool area is very good with five pools ( not sure how many are open).

The buffet is good for the price and it has a food court- Nathans, McDonalds, Hagen Daz etc.

There is a large arcade, the " tomb" of Tutenkahmun( sp?) and 3-D rides.

Bally's in the Centre strip is in the middle of most of the action with a tram link to the MGM and across the road from Bellagio, Ceasars palace and beside the Paris.

I would probably choose the Luxor.

Have a great time

Given your requirements, I would choose the Luxor over Ballys too. The Luxor has a great pool area, which is open year rround. ( we were in LV last Chrsitams, and saw a butch of people swimming at the Luxor during the day!)
The luxor also has some stuff that your child would be interrested in. Although I haven't stayed there, consnesus is that the tower rooms are nicer, but not 'unique' since they don't have the slanted walls like the rms in the main pyramid building do.

HOWEVER, if you just plain asked me which hotel to stay at, i would DEFINATELY choose Bally's. The location is MUCH better and closer to the "hot spots" such as Mirage volcano, Bellagio fountains, TI Pirate ship battle, Eiffel Tower, etc (all things your 10 year old i'm sure will enjoy). You also have the monorail at Bally's in order to go down to the MGM area (to see the Lion Habitat, NYNY, etc).

Luxor REALLY is out of the way as far as the "central strip" goes. Although, based upon what you're looking for, it's a bit more newer, airy, open, and brighter than Bally's.

We've stayed at the Luxor and Loved this hotel. Very nice, get a room in the towers. Very nice room with marble bathroom. I heard these rooms are larger than the ones in the pyramid. Haven't stayed at Bally's so I can't review that one. Lots to do at Luxor for kids.
Get tickets for Mystere at Treasure Island. EXCELLENT show. Worth the money.
Great for kids too!!
Have fun
