is the location of Radio City Apartments preferable to Hampton Madison Square-considering the children are walking? One advantage of Madison Square is that is where we pick up the Megabus back to Baltimore.

I am excited about this trip with the children, but I am spending too much time on it today. I am expecting my curling girls for lunch (I am in Canada)

I think if that's where you pick up the Megabus than I would stick to the Hampton Inn Madison Square garden. I think the Hampton Inns are a good choice. I had suggested the one closer to the Empire State building but either one are fine. I do like the location of the Radio City Apartments better but in NYC it doesn't really matter that much. I will be interested to see what others think.

The location is irrelevant. You can get around easily from either location. Stick with what you have. That's a brand-new hotel, and it's probably the best option for you. The dining choices around there aren't too exciting, but you could do Korean barbecue, and that can be fun.

ita-Wasn't sure if you had 4 or 5 as you were talking about yourself and the 3 grandchildren. Well Doug lives in NY and he agrees that the location is irrelevant. Are you sure that Hampton Inn will take five? The rooms only have 2 double beds. When I put in 5 people, it wouldn't let me make the reservation.

we are staying at the Hampton/Madison Square. I remember from last time that it is quite isolated around Madison Square. We are planning to be walking quite late at night. Is it safe?

Others will have to answer about safety but I was wondering if you saw my question about the rooms at that Hampton Inn only having 2 beds. Will they allow 5 in that room? I don't see how you all could fit and New York is strict about how many people are in a room.

You shouldn't have a problem with walking in that area at night, there are usually crowds in the area at night, because of several restaurants, Madison Square Garden, clubs and movie theatres.

ita-Thanks for the answer. I hope the hotel works out for you. Let us know because people are always looking for a decent reasonable rate hotel in NYC.

I saw alot of medium priced, decent hotels (not flea bags) at www.nyc-visitor-discounts.com. It also had some other good ideas on saving money on sightseeing, shows and all.
