Hotel for woman travelling alone

I'm hoping to come to New York in early March next year. I'll be on my own and am looking for a hotel under $135 per night. Which are the most safe areas in NYC.

I'm staying at the Park Savoy when I go for a business meeting Nov 1. I'll let you know how it worked out when I get back. The location is ideal, it is in your price range.

I have stayed at the Hotel Edison in the theater district many times, sometimes by myself, and feel very safe there. It is in your price range.

I think The Wellington is one of the best deals in NYC as far as location and price. It was around $175-$200 a night. For a safe and fun, stay around Times Square where people walk the streets at all hours. The Marriott is on the square itself although it is more than your price range. You can usually find a room near your price around the World Trade Center. The question there is nothing really goes on a night and you will have to "cab-it" and be out on the street at night time. Over all, NYC is safe as long as you do not bring attention to yourself. I stayed this past weekend at Hotel Clarion Hotel on 40th and 5th near the library and Bryant Park. It was safe and 4-6 blocks east away from Times square. A little closer would insure true safety under the lights of Times Square. Look under http://www.express-res.com/ and www.quikbook.com. I booked through them and it was great.

We stayed at the Mayflower on the Park in May with a park view (excellent location, charming and very comfortable room) for $139.
