Hotel comparison - Bar Harbor

I couldn't get a room at the Bar Harbor Inn for the nights I wanted, so I opted for the Sunspree Hotel instead. The room rates are about the same, but I never hear anything about this hotel - only hear good things about the Bar Harbor Inn. Can anyone offer feedback on the Sunspree?
Thanks!

I don't know anything specifically about the Sunspree. Have you thought about staying at a B&B? We were there last summer and stayed at the Cleftstone Manor for 2 nights and the Maples Inn for 2 nights. We really enjoyed the Maples Inn as it is close the 'action' but it is located on a quiet one-way street. The room we stayed in was great and the breakfast was wonderful. The Cleftstone Manor was nice but we wouldn't stay there again as it is a bit outside of town.

We stayed at the Bar Harbor Motel(not the Bar Harbor Inn) and it was very nice. clean, heated pool, bus shuttles to town every 15 minutes(instead of spending alot of time looking for a parking spot) . The Golden Anchor was horrible. Don't bother. dirty, holes in walls,no a/c in all of the rooms. Also, don't pay the extra money on waterview or waterfront..sometimes it's foggy in Bar Harbor. At the Golden Anchor, we made the mistake, and didn't know an island was right in front of us until we checked out (3 days later!!!)

I wouldn't recommend staying anywhere outside of town where you have to take a shuttle or drive in to Bar Harbor. It gets pretty crowded and parking/traffic can be avoided by staying someplace that is walkable to the restaurants/waterfront/etc.
