It's not ``heat'' -- it's a difference of opinion. But if my tone seemed hard, I'm sorry. (Besides if I merely wanted to give heat I'd aim it at the truly stupid posts we all see.)

Yes, BQ notes that Kenai and Nenana are noted for ``nice'' rafting trips. BQ is an invaluable and the best resource on this board, especially because she gives advice from the frequent tourist (rather than resident) perspective. But I'd be willing to bet a breakfast at Gwins or even the crab omelet at Gwennies that rafting is a specialty and she has not done all three. (And I woouldn't mind losing that bet because BQ would be fun to meet )

Here's why I chimed in: If someone is asking about the Six-Mile trip, which is far less known than Kenai or Nenana, it's very likely they are looking for a top-quality rafting experience. It gets most of its business by its reputation.

So if that was the case, I wanted the OP to know that there would be a substantially drop in quality of the experience.

If the OP has his/her heart set on a great rafting experience, here's what would work:

10 Jul Drive to Cooper Landing. Scenic raft float OR GUIDED HIKE. Overnight Kenai Riverside Lodge.

11 Drive to Seward for the KF trip (it's only 50 miles) Overnight there.

12 Drive to Hope, raft Six-Mile. Stay there or drive to Girdwood for overnight. Dinner at Double Musky or 7 Glaciers. This will shave a couple of hours off a long drive day and you can started the 13th with a great roll from the Alyeska bakery.

13 Jul Drive day! Drive to Denali. Overnight McKinley Village Lodge

14 Jul Shuttle or Tour in the park. Overnight MVL

15 Jul Whitewater rafting on Nenana River. Overnight MVL -- OR head to Talkeetna flightsee, spending the night there.

Again, though and more importantly, if I came off harsh or cranky, it wasn't my intent.

For clairfication, I have not been on the above 6 mile trip. I went on a short "float" trip several years ago and don't remember the operator.

I agree, accuracy is highly important and this board is only striving for it. It's hard to sometimes determine the "tone" of some posts, including my own. But Repeat is definately an asset as well for great information.

Repete, thanks for clarifying that Six-Mile Creek is an exceptional rafting trip in Alaska. I had not heard of it, and after reading this post, hoped some good ole Alaska expert, like you or BQ, would enlighten us all. Thanks, again!
