Honolulu - What to do during 3 hours layover?

Any ideas on quick, fun, interesting things to do during a 3 hour layover in Honolulu in April while waiting for our flight to Kauai?

Shop the boutiques at the airport for the gorgeous photo books and postcards you may not have already acquired, along with the fabulous "keepsakes" and wonderful souvenirs, buy a magazine, stop by a cafe for a snack and/or beverage, have a seat and enjoy watching the "passing parade". If you run out of things to do (not likely), fill in your travel journal so you can add interesting contributions to this Forum!

Christy,

If you are switching from a Mainland carrier to an interisland one, you may be able to jump on an earlier flight to Kauai. We usually manage to - since there's no assigned seats on the interisland Aloha & Hawaiian Air flights, they will put you on an earlier one if there's space.

But if you do have three hours, grab some of the free tourist brochures off the rack, buy a plumeria lei (the best island "jewelry") and start inhaling the fragrance of the islands, get your first Mai Tai! April in Hawaii is heaven - you'll love it!

Christy, go directly to the Interisland Terminal. The Aloha and Hawaiian flights depart about every 30 minutes. Most likely, you can get on an earlier flight. I've done it numerous times and since Aloha and HA put luggage on the next flight as soon as it gets to them, it will most likely get there early also. I've actually had my luggage beat me to one of the out islands because we couldn't get on the flight but the baggage did.
The airlines can't book too close connections but if you get there, they will let you go. Even if you beat your luggage, you can get the rental car and just grab the bags and run when they get there.
By all means get to Kauai as quickly as possible and start enjoying paradise. Also, check with both Aloha and HA they will sometimes take eack others tix.

Sam Choy's Breakfast, Lunch and Crab is a fun restaurant with great food. It's on Nimitz HIghway and an easy 15-20 minute bus ride from the airport.
