You don't say when you will be in Hawaii, but the Hawaii International Jazz Festival will be from July 19-22 this year....I believe it will be at the Neal Blaisdell Center, which is just a little outside of Waikiki. Go to http://www.maui.net/~hukilau/jazzfest.html
(Don't ask me why it's "maui.net" if the fest is in Honolulu!) The guy in charge of the Jazz Festival, Abe Weinstein, can point you in the direction of his favorite artists performing around town.

Thanks, Melissa. Unfortunately, I'll miss the jazz festival. I will be in HOnolulu in August. I am looking for intimate clubs or restaurants where you can order a drink and listen to music. I seem to recall that the Colony Surf had music. Is that hotel now the W , and does it have music?

Oh, you're right! The W does feature jazz--the hotel's Diamond Head Grill features Zanuck Lindsey and Jenai on Wed/Thurs nights from 830 PM till midnight or 1. I don't know if I could call the DHG "intimate," but it's nice. All the "beautiful people" go there, since it's a trendy, fashionable place.
Sorry, I'm currently drawing a blank on other spots--I knew the Halekulani had jazz for a while but now they don't. If I can think of other places, I'll re-post.

Michele, I hope you're still checking this post. There is jazz at the Kahala Mandarin Veranda, and I believe it's every night. Every so often the Hilton Hawaiian Village also offers jazz.
You might also try the folks at Gusto Magazine. They are always very "up" on the latest jazz offerings in town. http://www.lava.net/~brew/
