Please help!! I have done EXTENSIVE research on places to go on my honeymoon...starting September 19th. All the places that I have wanted to go so far....St. John, Antigua, Cabo San Lucas, Hawaii......are supposed to be in their hurricane season, rainy season, etc. I am looking for a really intimate, relaxing, romantic, secluded, honeymoon. I don't care about all-inclusive, as long as there are good places to eat around. I don't care anything about night life and other activities. Basically, just want white sandy beaches, pretty water, and great weather to go with a nice hotel. This seems to be too much to ask though. If there are places like this that exist in an area that is not in the hurricane belt, I would LOVE to hear about it. Thanks so much!

September is probably one of the best times to visit Hawai`i. September is in our hurrican season, technically, but realistically September is one of our driest months. The last time a hurricane hit the islands was Iniki in Sept 1992.

It is not rainy season in Hawaii at that time - I guess it is technically hurricane season, but hurricanes rarely hit HI. And by that, I mean tropical storms of any strength (where as Carribean islands will likely get tropical storms at that time). If that is your only concern with Hawaii, you should go there. You might want to also look into French Polynesia based on your description if time/money allows for it.

Maui, Kauai, Big Island are great places to visit in September. We used to go there every year around my birthday (September 25th). Never experienced any hurricane. Once we had strong winds at night on Big Island. Just once!

I have no knowledge of the other islands, so I cannot advise you other than places on Maui. I am thinking that based on your criteria Maui is not necessarily where you want to be. I have friends who spent two months in Roratonga and based on what they have told me, if I had to find a romatice, quiet, secluded place, with good restaurants nearby, I would have to put Roratonga on my list.

On Maui you have nice white sand beaches in the south, but they are not so private, and get downrighted crowded. I find Hana ectremely romantic and when I am there I love to spend the day on Hamoa Beach, a quite, secluded salt and pepper sand beach. James Michener once said that Homao Beach is the one beach in the world that represented the quintessential "south Pacific beach," although it is in the north Pacific. But in Hana your dining options are severly limited.

There are two resort ares you might want to investigate, Wailea and Kapalua. If a resort experience can fulfill your needs, these might be your answer. But perhaps another island may offer more of what you seek? You should check out the BI and Kaua`i.

There are so places in the world. I think I might be wanting to check out Phuket some time soon, but that is a discussionfor the Asian board.

I got married in Sept. (GREAT month) & went to the south of Frnace. Still wodnerful weather but not crowded. I know you posted on the US board, but since you're getting suggestions to go as far as Roratonga, would you consider a beach in Europe? France, Spain, Italy, Greek Isles?

We honeymooned in Greece for 4 weeks and in Turkey for 2 additional weeks.

The cost back then was so much more value for our dollar...look into those places...

Married Sept 2003 - Spent 15 gorgeous days in Kaui and Mauii. Stayed in the Hyatt in Both. The weather was 85-90 degrees.

I too love the beaches, ocean breezes, beautiful waters and romantic places. I have to agree w/other posters that Hawaii is so lovely I think you'd enjoy spending your anniversary in Hawaii. We went there for our 20th (also in September)and divided our time between Maui and the Big Island. They are quite different from each other and both are very beautiful. The weather was perfect. No concerns about Hurricanes.
BTW: When we married in 1979 (youngsters really) we didn't have a clue about such things as "hurricane season". We were so impressed that we were able to book a cheap package which included Miami Beach and the Keys. And we even had vouchers for so many different hotels that we didn't even need to reserve...just show up...no crowds! Well...we arrived just after Hurricane David passed and left just ahead of Hurricane Frederick. Still had an awesome honeymoon w/fabulous memories.
Enjoy yourselves! In my mind-- anywhere that has palm trees has to be great!!

We got married in the month of September, in Hawaii as a matter of fact. My husband and I experienced some light rain, but not enough to stop you from doing anything. You don't mention cost as a factor or distance. I highly recommend the Hyatt in Kauai for as long as you are able to stay. Very romantic island and many above average restaurants to choose from.

Hanalei Bay/Princeville on the north coast of Kauai, North Kohala coast on the Big Island. Note the BI doesn't have too many white sand beaches (but Hapuna Beach on the Kohala coast is annually ranked as one of the best beaches in the state, nation); however the climate will likely be drier on the Big Island.

I personally would think the BI is your choice; look at the Mauna Lani resort especially. Wonderful restaurants, day trip choices, fun things to do.

Otherwise, Fiji.
