Honeymoon in North Carolina Mountains

My soon-to-be bride and I would like to spend 4/5 days in the mid to northern NC mountains (north of the Ashville area) in mid-October. I am looking for info on as close to a "5 star" B&B as possible close to great golf, hiking, and food. The smaller the resort the better. Any suggestions would be a great help. Thank you.

Congrats to you- My husband & I stayed at a small log cabin close to Pilot Mountain. They are not advertised, no signs, or anything- but I guarantee you will love them. They are old tobacco barns, (I think about 7-10 of them) 2 story, nice and quiet. You go to the main cabin for breakfast-. (great jacuzzi in the bathroom) Usually stay booked up -so if full, do make reservations and go back. e-mail me for directions.

I live near Asheville. From what I've heard, it doesn't get much better than staying at the Eseeola Lodge with access to the Linville Golf Club (designed by the renowned Donald Ross). The Lodge consists of 29 small, tastefully furnished rooms, with private porches...excellent restaurant (men must wear jacket and tie). The golf course is consistently ranked as one of the top courses in the state. The Lodge is also near the excellent Mt. Mitchell Golf Club (public)...Eseeola Lodge is open from mid-May to mid-Oct...at Linville (US 221 on map). (704)733-4311

The Grove Park Inn is not a B&B but a lovely Hotel/Inn with a great golf course. There is a web site just type grove park and you should find it. The Biltmore Estate is worth seeing, an American Castle in Asheville with a marvelous view of the Blue Ridge Mts. We were there last year.
We spent our Honeymoon in the NC mountains 44 years ago next week and we still love the area.
Best wishes, M
