Honeymoon in Key West

We are planning our honeymoon this July in Key West. I am looking at a few B&Bs and would like feedback from your experience regarding location, proprietor, romantic appeal, breakfast, pool, rooms, etc...

Jasmine House (Treetop Suite)
The Grand (on Grinnell St.)
Frances Street Bottle Inn

Thanks so much! ~Angie~

Angie, I would recommend the Marquessa. It has all the criteria for a wonderful, romantic honeymoon, plus it has a great restaurant.

Sandi,
I have read so many rave reviews about the Marquesa Hotel. It sounds wonderful! We are looking for something a little smaller in size though and less pricey. Any recommendations for B&Bs?

The Jasmine House has gotten some good reviews on this board. Try a back search for more information.

Archer House Suites. www.archerhousesuites.com (Hibiscus Room). Loved it not a B & B but very nice and secluded, great pool and wrap around decks on porch.

Not one of the ones you mentioned, but my favorite is the Gardens Hotel. Very, very romantic. Nice pool. Great location. Beautifully done rooms. the Gardens is slightly larger than a B&B, but not a "true" hotel. I think it only has about 16-18 rooms.

Angie-July is considered off-season in KW, I would call the Marquessa and see what kind of rate they would offer especially if you are going mid-week. You may be surprised. Out of the three you mentioned, the Jasmine House is your best bet.

Call the Key West Innkeepers Association at 800/492-1911. If you give them the dates you want and the price range, they can tell you which of thier members have rooms available.

The only problem I had was that I requested rooms around $150 and they came back with two places that charged $200 and one that charged $100. But the woman I talked to was very helpful with finding a "good fit" for us as far as location and amenities go. We took the $100 place and loved it.

Hi Angie, Keep in mind that MTV is broadcasting from Duvall Street (I think they are in front of Sloppy Joe's) for the next couple of months. We were planning a family vacation for this coming June, but decided to postpone it. My 13 year old is besides herself!!
Cheers!!

Hi...we just returned from Key West. Stayed at the Heron House which was absolutely wonderful. I look forward to returning there soon! Across the street from the Marquesa which is not to be missed for dinner. By the way, only saw the MTV thing one time and it was just a few people in the morning on Mallory Square. They are "based" in front of Sloppy Joe's. They had been there the day we arrived..were there for a week. I sure wouldn't worry about that!
