I am getting married too but honeymooning in Canada. We live on the Big Island so we want to get away from the tropical.
I can tell you our island, "Big Island" or Hawaii island, is great. This is the island with the active volcano although actually seeing lava flows is a hit and miss. But just going to the volcano and hiking around is really neat.
We have some great beaches on the Kohala coast. Great snorkeling (Kealakekua bay) in south Kona.
Kona village is a great secluded place. No phones or tvs you stay in bungalows. The price can be high but it includes meals and some activities. I don't know if they have a web site but do a search and you might find something.
E-mail me if you are interested in this island and I can give you some ideas. Check out www.wizardpub.com They have parts of the book "Big Island Revealed" which we use all the time.

My fiance and I just finished planning our trip to Maui for August. Once you decide which Island to stay on, we found it rather easy. We have both been to Oahu in the past, and wanted something a bit more low key. We have decided on staying in the Wailea area, and have booked at the Kea Lani. We wanted something quieter, but not so quiet we would feel secluded. Everything we want to do seems in close proximity, and the beaches in Wailea are supposed to be wonderful. I understand the snorkeling at the Sheraton about 35 minutes away is supposed to be great. Good luck planning!!!

Jenny, My husband and I spent 8 days on Maui for our honeymoon at the Hyatt. There is no describing how wonderful this resort, and this island were. It was dreamy - even in November. I'd fanatically recommend going to Maui over any other island - it's like no other place in the world. We're currently planning a trip back next year!!

I would recommend the Orchid at Mauna Lani on the Big Island. We were there a couple of years ago and it was great. It is very sucluded and they have great snorkeling. We saw huge sea turtles and lots of interesting fish. I have also been to Kauai and Oahu. Kauai is alway very pretty. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency in Poipu. It was nice, but if I was only going to one island it would be the Big Island because it has such diverse activities, including the volcano, great snorkeling, etc.
