home product design stores
I will be in NY city on a vacation in October and I am interested in visiting design stores-small upscale boutiques that have home products. I manufacture high end curtain panels out of silks and velvets and such and my partner and I may be interested in breaking into the East coast market-currently we are west coast only, so I want to visit a few places.
I keeping reading about a store called Moss that seems to fit the bill. Anyone know it? It sounds like the kind of place we are interested in-so any other stores similar to it might also be interesting to visit.
Thanks-any info appreciated!

Can't be much help, but at least this will bring your ? back up to the top. I'm surprised you haven't gotten some kind of response. I know/(think?) that Crate and Barrel is in NY, tho they are a Chicago company....and maybe too large for what you're after.....Putumayo? If you've got W. Coast credentials, maybe a phone call to the New York mag interiors/best buys people would net you some ideas? Good luck!

I'm guessing that places like "Crate and Barrel" are not what you seek..... I suggest you find out what specific neighborhoods in NYC have funky shopping in general (it's likely to be the the Village (East and West), Chelsea, SoHo, NoHo and TriBeca). Then got to www.newyork.sidewalk.com
Scroll down the home page and choose "Block by Block". It offers a mapped guide to specific streets and sections of streets. As you select them, info is offered on shopping, dining etc.. The beauty of this is that the merchants need not have their own website - this is strictly an overall informational guide gives specific details on ALL areas of interest (rather than those who pay to be listed). It may be customized,so that you can create a base of information in advance of your trip. Have fun researching!

thanks for all the suggestions. I do know The Crate but unfortunately, because they buy in such volume and their pricing is so low-we usually can't compete there, so yeah-I am looking for smaller quite hih end places. I will go to Sidewalk and I can at least investigate further-I do suspect Soho and Tribeca are the right neigborhoods
I haven't used sidewalk for much yet besides restaurants...

I'd recommend you check out a home furnishings store called ABC. They're located downtown somewhere in the 20's (i think off Broadway or 7th avenue). ABC carries a lot of upscale, funky home furnishings. It's a fairly large store, but the product isn't "generic". Good luck!
