Hollywood and Burbank

I want to take my two nieces (age 15 and 18) out to California to go on the warner brothers tour. Our favorite TV show is the Gilmore Girls.

I have been on the tour when I was on vacation with some other people and we stayed in Aneheim. But I am a little concerned about driving around.

Does anyone have suggestions of where to stay in Burbank (right by Warner Brothers would be great - if that is a safe part of town).

I was also interesting in any travel packages or people/companies that specialize in tours like this.

Thanks.

We didn't do the WB tour (although I hear it's terrific) but I would recommend the Hilton Universal City if you don't think that's too far. I posted a review on tripadvisor. Kids might enjoy being near CityWalk in the evening and the pool is quite nice. Tripadvisor would give you some other Burbank ideas, I think.

Hopefully there is decent service from your hometown into Burbank airport...it is so much easier to deal with than LAX (even if it means a connecting flight to BUR).

Hilton or Sheraton Universal are fun places to stay and Univ Studios tour has a deal where you could buy one day ticket and use it for many days...so always something to do up there. Burbank Best Western is right at the door of Warner Brothers and you could walk to WB, yes the area is very safe. From here you could take a quick bus ride to Universal or into Hollywood, very easy and you wouldn't need a car at any of these hotels. Starline Tours and other tour companies pick up at hotels and drive you around for a tour-of-the-stars homes etc.

awesome..thanks for the tips. Is the bus ride you are talking about a city bus...or I have seen somethign where you can buy a package thing and he bus takes you all over. I didn't use it when I was there before, but there was some driving around that went to Disney and stuff too. Does this sound familiar?

I think Tracey was talking about the MTA buses to Hollywood, www.mta.net for schedules.

City tours that include rides to Universal and Disneyland (as well as many other Southern California tourist attractions) are available from a few different tour companies.

www.starlinetours.com
Grayline might also have something available.

On Saturdays and Sundays, driving around the Burbank/Universal/Hollywood and even Beverly Hills area is quite easy. If you could fly in on a Friday you could see quite a lot on Sat & Sun without worrying about weekday traffic...and you could hit the studio tours on Monday and Tuesday.

NBC tour is right next to Warner Brothers but is mostly for soap opera fans I hear. Get tickets to Jay Leno show if you are staying in Burbank, though...since you are so close. I'm sure teenagers would love it.

I live right near there--nice area. Universal Hilton is nice because the girls can walk around Universal--a big entertainment complex with shops and restaurants.

The closest nice hotel to the studios is the Graciela Hotel--great boutique hotel but probably less fun for the girls. Gorgeous and great service! www.graciela.com

For Jay Leno send a self addressed stamped envelope to NBC Tickets, 3000 W Alameda Burbank 91523.....and for Ellen I think it might be the same, but check both their websites.
Also look at tvtix.com and tvtickets.com, you might find some other shows at WB that you're interested in that week.
