TeacherD, whilst MP was breathtaking, it didn't actually affect my breathing! Cusco was a little rough as far as sleeping; that's really the only time I actually was bothered at all by the altitude, but staying in the Sacred/Urubamba Valley first really seemed to help. Machu Picchu is actually lower than Cusco.

Peru is just wonderful--I stood in so many places and had that "geography book come to life" feeling. And while I'm hijacking (sorry, Scarlett ) have you registered yourself on this thread?http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...=2&tid=1280366 (I'm making a certain assumption here...)

Happy Holidays to all!
And Amy, thanks for linking me to the "teachers" thread. I've seldom visited the Europe forum so I didn't know about it. Am "officially" part of it now!

Thank you Scarlett, and very best wishes for a happy holiday season.
Will you miss seeing snow this Christmas? I know I wouldn't miss it at all! Oh to be in Florida! It's freezing up here in the cold north.

Gotravel, those clips are soooo funny. I really enjoyed them.Thanks.

Merry Christmas to everyone.

Merry Christmas to all!
Happy Holidays and safe traveling for all those who are trapsing to see love ones. Peace in 2005 and hopefully a lasting one for the middle east.

PEEP! PEEP! (Extra long)
from Sydney the Cockatiel. That means- thanks. He got a gift already last weekend from guests of a package of
sugar cane rods and he doesn't know what to make of it yet. It says on the package to offer him one a day. I think with that much he would be flying to the Caribbean without me- and not using the plane either. But not in this weather.

No!He will stay home and we will go to the Caribbean soon. Two great vacations coming up.
