Hip boutique hotel in LA

I am headed to LA for a business trip. I am staying at the Ritz starting on Sunday but am going out one day early. The Ritz doesn't have any rooms available on Saturday night. We want to stay someplace fun on Saturday night. We usually travel with our kids so this is a special weekend trip without them (for once)! Any thoughts? (its this weekend!)

Stay at HotelAngeleno and have dinner around the corner at the Getty on Saturday night. Reservations required!

The Mondrian is great, it's an Ian Schraeger Hotel (Hudson NYC, Clift SF). Very hip and contemporary in decor. Last time we were at the Skybar (Mondrian Lounge) we saw a few celebrities. It's right in Hollywood, if that's the area you want to be in.

Shutters on the Beach in Santa Monica --depending on your budget $$$$. I prefer being by the ocean if possible. I also like Giorgio Baldi's restaurant nearby. Very popular and great food.
