Jen, I had no idea there was a Hilton in Santa Cruz, so I checked it out. Found that if you bid for at the 3* level on PriceLine, you'll get this hotel, probably for a LOT less than the lowest room rate of $169. Go to www.biddingfortravel and click on CA Hotels then click on San Jose/Silicon Valley Hotels. Read the hotel list and then scroll thru the posts to see what rate others have
gotten at this hotel. The moderators at BFT will help you construct your bid, but you must follow the instructions posted on the site. BTW, I have no connection to PL or BFT.

Stayed there in August. Lovely place -- the front desk staff is very unhelpful, but I think the pluses overcome that. We were only there for one night & did not use the pool, but the exercise room was very nice. I don't think I would think of it as a "getaway" or a "destination" -- more like a nice place to stop by enroute.

I don't know what they charge (I am a local), but I think you would be MUCH happier at the Seascape Resort in Aptos, which is right at the beach. The Hilton is 15 minutes inland, not really close to anything great. It's kinda off to itself.

Sadly, my trip has come and gone. I loved my sunrise drive down Hwy 1 and had the road almost all to myself. I was checked into the Hilton before 8:30 am and was so pleasantly surprised. What a lovely spot! Excellent Housekeeping, such a nice room and extra clean. The view of the trees and the peace and quiet was just what I wanted. Perfect to hop on and off the freeway as I explored Santa Cruz. I will definately include this stay in my future travels.
On my return trip up Hwy 1, Seascape is now another must! Fabulous property, HUGE, perfect for walkers/joggers and yet also very handycap accessable. Kind, thoughtful, helpful and cheerful staff. And dining? Excellent!
I will post a full trip report of my stay in Carmel Valley, Quail Lodge & Burnardus.
Thanks for your help to Hilton Scotts Valley and Seascape!!!

Bodi, business almost took me to this area for a month. I was considering the Seascape Resort, it looks beautiful on the website.
I was going to recommend the Bittersweet Bistro in Aptos for a nice dinner. Glad you had a nice stay, looking forward to your report.
Did you dine at Sanderlings at the Seascape? ***kim***
