Strongly suggest you do a full search on Savannah for thr past 12 months ... the restuarant scene has been discussed indept, really indepth, and it is such a small city nothing has likely changed. Look in particular for OliveOyl postings ... very accurate. And look for me in there two. The weather will in all likelihood be nice. You can't time your trip based on hurricanes ... otherwise you'd need to wait until mid-December to come. Ciao

I concur...if your trip is impromptu - watch the weather channel..If there is something churning up the east coast of Florida, head for the hills, otherwise, have fun....I live in HH, and the Crowne Plaza is an excellent hotel - big and lots of conferences but on the beach....check the Inn at Harbourtown in Seapines...Also the Westin...don't know which ones have good deals - it all depends on what you want to do.

Chris-A nice place for lunch or dinner in Savannah is Skyler's Restaurant, which is located in the East Bay Inn on the corner of Bay and Lincoln St. Bay St is a block N of both Factors Walk and River St. Check out www.savannahmenu.com for specifics on local restaurants. If this is your 1st trip to Savannah, suggest you talk a guided trolley/carriage tour. Walking around looking at the beautifully restored houses is nice, but a tour will tell you what you're seeing. There's also a free CAT shuttle that makes about 35 city stops, including the Historic district, which is a great, inexpensive way of getting around the city. As for a place to stay, there are the requisite chains in the city, however, a B&B is definitely the way to go-some very nice ones are Granite Steps, Foley House Inn, Magnolia Place Inn, Hamilton-Turner Inn, East Bay Inn for starters. Savannah is a beautiful city, contrary to what some have said. Happy Travels!

We'll be there tomorrow. Can't wait. I'd add to that B&B list the Gastonian, Ballastone, and Kehoe House, double stress Foley House...but subtract (!) Hamilton-Turner. Yikes.
Am so looking forward to returning to our old stomping grounds and getting out of Dodge.
