The Hilton is a big property - several towers, great access to the beach, many dining options. It is self-contained so that is a plus. Some of the rooms have a great view of Waikiki and Diamond Head. All of the rooms we've had have been nice.
It can be a little confusing to find the right tower and some of the towers are not immediately convenient to the taxi/transportation pickup point. If you want to do things in the heart of Waikiki (near the Royal Hawaiian and Moana Surfrider, for example) you'll need to budget walking time or take a cab.

Liked: Lagoon Tower Suite,Having a CD Player in room,Penguins,Fireworks
Disliked: Laundrey Pick-up racket every morning, being so far from Duke's,Going downstairs to do the scratch off for free gift (read Timeshare sales) pool (could have been more attractive and welcoming).

In August it is entirely too crowded, pool was like a large communal bath, grounds do not accommodate guests at full capacity. To make matters worse they had a Polynesian show around the pool that they charged guests to attend. This was August2001 a big waste of money when the hotel is working at full capacity in my opinion. Most likely a different experience in a slow season. Recall standing on a check in line that was not unlike a bank line in a major city on a Friday before a three day weekend.
