Hi Everyone.
I posted a few things yesterday afternoon before I left the office, but I haven't been on today. I'll actually try to come online every once in a while, but I'm an editor over on the book-side, and the Web is just a sideline (I used to post regularly on the Blog, though not as regularly as some). A lot of us will be coming on from time to time to give you our 2 cents. I am very opinionated (ask anyone at Fodor's), so I'm certain I will have a lot to say. Now a few things:
1. I'm not really new. I've been an editor for Fodor's for almost 5 years, just with the books. And I've been editing travel books for a lot longer than that. The Web programmers just put this highlight thing on my posts and my name.
2. I'm planning a trip to Egypt for myself and some friends for this fall, so you are likely to see me asking for advice as much as giving it over the coming weeks and months.
3. I'm not sure how Danny's antipathy for monkeys developed (and did he dislike monkeys or "monkeys"?). At any rate, I like them, though I did handily avoid the monkey forest in Bali a couple of years ago because they monkeys looked mean and dirty.
4. I don't handle the programming of the Web site, so please don't beat up on me. I also don't really police the forums ... I just participate from time to time.
5. I'll tell you more eventually, but I don't want you to get tired of me.

Hi Doug!
I think the question that inquiring minds want to know is whether you are Danny's replacement. Or has fodors decided we don't need supervision? (Yikes.)
In any case, welcome, and if you have strong opinions you should fit in very nicely here in Virtual Fodorville.

I'm not Danny's replacement, and I'm not sure that anyone can adequately fill his shoes. Someone will be policing the forums, but I actually don't know how that's done or how it was done in the past, for that matter. I'm still relatively blissfully unaware of how the web site is administered and overseen. I just get the fun of participating.
