While we've missed you, you haven't missed much. The Monkey thread was resurrected if that gives you any indication...

Africa was wonderful ... lots of animals very close. I'm afraid that events in DC have left me a bit drained, so I've nothing funny or especially smart to say right now ... but you're very kind. Normally I look to mom for those kind of sentiments. I hope life is treating you kindly and that happier times will be ahead of us eventually. Have a good day, and thank you for asking. Ciao, Leone

Arabella, you forgot the revolt! Fodor's started deleting a bunch of threads and everyone was asking why and they never replied--someone suggested we hijack the board last Wed. Well, Danny our dear friend, got wind of it and posted why threads were deleted. It's gotten a little better, but they deleted the Gilligan's Island thread which was pretty funny...

L,

welcome back. I missed your comments. I agree with Arabella that you haven't missed much. Since 9/11 I guess we're all shell-shocked. Not that I am a primary contributor by any means, but it takes all the intellectual energy I can muster just to try to respond with concrete suggestions concerning the few places I know fairly well, much less participate in some of the pre-9/11 fun & games that make/made this board so much fun.

Anyway, I'll look for your trip report on the appropriate international board (Africa?).

L,
Ciao bruddah.
Got you already on the Africa board!

Now the SA wines sound almost as interesting as the Chilean reds. I may swing by the local "winetorium and see if they have a few bottles....all while wearing my Hawaiian shirt, black knee highs, sandals and check shorts.
Welcome back?
Kal

Cool!!! Leone's back, and not a second too soon! Without going into the ugly details, believe me, you were sorely missed.

The most exciting thing around here had to have been the half-assed revolt that never happened. The Fodors monitor made nice and that was the end of it.

Anyway, welcome back.

What I'd like to do is create a site for the pictures ... they really speak about the trip. I must say the food and wines of S. Africa were terrific, and driving on the left side a real gas. I will leave the tents to the tenters ... we tended toward the luxurious end ... and that is a terrific way for those who need it ... and I do. If you like San Fran, then Cape Town is your venue. Fun central. By the way, the folks in Hermanus look out into their bay and speak of the Big Six. They are of course partial to their migrating neighbors, the Southern Right Whales ... which in their view stand side by side with lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and cape buffalo. I think they have a point. All in all, fabulous time and lots to fill the eyes. Getting instructions from the rangers and trackers where and where not to pee in the bush was part of the amazement. It was fun and very interesting, and I think we'll do it all over again next year. Take care and be safe. Ciao

Welcome back. Read your too brief trip report.

Kal,

"winotorium"? Where? Around here? Gold star for excellent use of made up word.

Welcome home, L. Glad you made the trip. Am curious about ATL restaurant recommendation pre-flight out- did it work well for you? Hope it was good. Looking forward to a trip report on the Africa board.

I was glad to see that Leone is OK in
DC, that he had a good time on his trip, that he has posted a trip report on the africa board. Thank You L for replying.
Can everyone else just leave this post alone now? Someone asked a question, and got an appropriate answer. Bye Now.

Oscar's on Main Street in College Park was quite nice. Had dinner there the night of October 3 ... very good, and good people managing the place. Very nice suggestion. We appreciated the advice. Ciao, L

Suzie,
David Berkley's at Sac Pavilions on Fair Oaks and Bev Mo in CH.

Sorry XXX. I had to be polite and answer Suzie's Q.

Kal,
Knew about David Berkley but I'll have to check out the other. Thanks for the heads up.

XXX
I know Kal didn't HAVE to get an answer from me but I did, so try not to be too bugged.
