Help with weather in San Francisco !
I'm leaving for S.F in two days and am confused about what type of clothing to take..(I live in the Caribbean so I'm not very used to winters) I heard it was very warm in L.A but the weather forecast says it's lower..(60's and low 70's)
Does the weather change considerably between day and night..?
Thanks for the input..I really don't want to get there and fill the suitcase with useless sweaters and winter jackets !

SF has a number of "microclimates" influenced by the wind, fog, tides, etc. It can be sunny and warm (70s) in one part of town and foggy and very chilly (50s or even 40s) in another part of the city at the same time. It's part of SF's charm. Often in the late afternoon the wind can come up and one can watch the fog roll in from the west while the temperature drops like a rock.
If ever there was a place where "layering" is a must, SF is it.

For what it's worth , and it may not be much, we're supposed to be warming up for the weekend, temps in mid to upper 60's. Heed well the advice about latering here , it may be quite cool in the morning , "warm up" some what during the day and then cool off very quickly at night. Depends on what's happening with the fog. Can be in the low 50's in the evening and if the fog is in and it's blowing will feel much colder. As you can tell from previous posts the mantra here is "LAYER".

SF-cool to cold and usually damp. Since you live in the Caribbean you might feel it more than others. Layers are the way to go, and don't hesitate to pack a wool sweater or jacket.
LA-low 70s, breezy , sunny BUT it cools down considerably at night. Sweater for the evenings or even a lighweight coat or jacket if you tend to feel the cold ( I do).
And if you really feel you haven't packed correctly, there are PLENTY of great shops to correct any errors.
Enjoy your trip,
Michele
