Help with Seattle trip
Hi,we are planning a trip to Seattle this summer which includes a trip to Victoria, BC and Olympic National Park. We will have 7 days and need the following answered: How many days needed to see most of highlights in Seattle? If staying downtown, do we need a car? We are planning a trip to Victoria via ferry and staying overnight. How much time do we need to travel to and see ONP? Do we need a car in Victoria? If not, is there a tour to Buchart Gardens? Hope this isn't too much to ask. Any help will be appreciated.

You do not need a car if you're staying in downtown Seattle. You can walk or take the bus or monorail to most everything. What ferry are you taking to Victoria? You can see lots of Victoria on foot. There are tours to Buchart Gardens you can book in advance. What are you hoping to do or see in ONP?

Staying downtown, and to see just a few highlights of the city you need 1-2 days and do not need a car.
I love living here, but as a tourist stop I really think you can get a feel for the city by visiting the Pike Place Market, Pioneer Square, lunch in Chinatown, maybe a ferry ride, the Seattle Art Museum or a jazz club or two.

Yes, the monorail is running again. And I agree, you don't need a car for either Victoria or Seattle.
It's hard to say how much time you need in ONP without knowing your interests. Maybe look at the official site:
www.nps.gov/olym
and make a list of everything you'd like to see and do, and take it from there.

seattlesue, thanks for your reply as well as all the others. We have heard ONP is one not to be missed. We have visited a lot of US and some Canadian parks and we love to go on scenic drives and short hikes. We want to see the rain forest also. Also, any help with where we can get the best hotel rate would be appreciated. We are AAA members but the rates are not all that great. Thanks again.
