Karen these belly ackers are not flying Virgin a whole heck of lot better than most American and certainly many south east asian carriers. You will do fine.
P.S you try to sleep/eat on Hawaii time. I like to figure out the mix before hand and may even get up later for week or so to fall towards PST time zone sleeping patterns. I rarely remember to do this though and I am only a short 6 hours ahead of you on sleeping schedules.

All this talk of special regimens etc is OK if you can remember where you are at any one time.
But remember - If you want to make the trip, then it's worth the hassle !
Since mid 90s I've found melatonin helps jet lag, especially west to east, I took about 3 or 4 mg upon arrival at bedtime for the first couple of nights after such trips.
East to west no biggie, normal fatigue helps resolve that. Of course, truly halfway 'round the world either direction will leave you upside down, if this is a problem isn't there somewhere acceptable closer to home ?
When flying long vacation trips I like to have a few drinks but always carry lots of water too.

Just for the record, I was not the original poster who used the word grueling on this thread. However, I guess because I cannot sleep on a plane no matter how tired or bored or drugged I am, it seems grueling to me. Actually the flight over was not that bad because we were all excited about going to Hawaii. The flight back, although slightly shorter, seemed like an eternity! I had no jet-lag in Hawaii but it took over a week to feel normal again once we got back home. That said, the suffering is worth it because Hawaii is such a special place. Enjoy your trip Linda!
