Help w/lodging for Bryce & Zion
My husband and I are planning a trip to Bryce & Zion parks the last week of May. We like staying one place, preferably a cabin, and do day trips from there. It looks like Duck Creek is fairly center between the two. I found on line Meadow View Cabins and Pinewoods Resort. Does anyone know anything about these places? Or does anyone have a better idea. We are in our late 50's and like to hike. Thanks for any help.

Have you tried the cabins in Zion or Bryce?
If it were me I'd move around and stay at both Bryce and Zion, BUT if you really only want one location, then I'd stay either in Zion or just outside in Springdale. The views of the park from Springdale are fantastic. You can just pick up the shuttle buses and ride to the park and in the park. It will save driving the days you want to spend in Zion. Then it's 2 hours to Bryce on the days you want to visit.
Hwy 14 isn't the fastest driving road!

We didn't stay in a cabin so not much help there (though we really enjoyed the Desert Pearl outside Zion). We did the drive to Bryce that Utahtea suggested - just be wary of driving back in the dark. The deer like to graze by the side of the road and we found ourselves in a deer stampede as a herd spooked and ran wildly into the cars. Fortunately, we noticed some cars had slowed on the opposite side and we did the same narrowly avoiding collision.

Whatever you decide, make arrangements fairly quickly. We're doing the same trip around the same time. In November I had trouble getting reservations in Bryce and couldn't get a king bed room in the motel we picked in Springdale.

If you want to stay inside the parks, even if they are all reserved now, keep trying right up until your trip. We lucked out in June 2004 and got a cancellation in Zion days before we left. We cancelled BW reservation and jumped on the stay in the park. Great experience--glad we did it!
Good luck!

The places in Springdale all look very nice and they are right on the shuttle route. BUT they fill up fast too since they're the closest lodging to Zion outside of the park lodging. There's an area right outside of Bryce NP that has lodging, but it looks totally touristy although it appears clean from the outside.
Good luck with the planning!
