Help using TKTS Booth

My wife and I are going to NYC on may 29-30 and we are hoping to see the matinee show sunday, may 30 for The Boys from OZ. I want to try to buy tickets at the TKTS Booth in Times Square and I was wondering if I will be able to buy tickets for a Sunday Matinee on Sunday morning and if so what time should I be there. We did this in London the morning of the show and it worked great. Thanks for the help.

There is no telling whether tickets from The Boy from Oz will be available on that date. That's the beauty of TKTS -- they sell what they can get. Plus, the musical and Hugh Jackman have been nominated for several Tony awards. If you are set on seeing The Boy From Oz, especially on that particular date, it would be best to order your tickets in advance. If you can be more flexible, either with date/time or show, TKTS is a great way to go.

Also, May 29-30 is the Memorial Day holiday here in the US. There are likely to be more tourists in NYC on that weekend looking for theater tickets. Just another thought.

This is from the TKTS website

Box Office Hours - Duffy Square (47th St.)
Evening Performances Monday - Saturday 3 PM - 8 PM
Matinees Wed. & Sat. 10 AM - 2 PM
Matinee & Evening Sunday 11 AM - 7:30 PM
Box Office Hours - South Street Seaport
Evening Performances Monday - Saturday 11 AM - 6 PM
Evening Performance Sunday Closed
You must buy matinee tickets the day before at the Seaport branch. For example, Wednesday matinees are sold Tuesday (only at this location)

The selection of matinee tickets available the day before Seaport, may be more limited than the day of the show.

Boy from Oz is not listed as one of the Broadway shows being offered at TKTS currently. You can check their website for the shows they are offering. www.tkts.com This site also gives detailed information about using the booths, etc. Good Luck and enjoy NYC!

TKTS is best if you are flexible. No telling what the shows will send seats over and at what time, but in general, the only tix that come in for the big hits are when the stars are on vacation, which is not what you really want.

If you have no particular show in mind, put one person in line (New Yorkers say "on line") and send the other to check out the availability board and pick up handouts, coupons, and twofers. Be ready with two or three choices, because when you hit the front of the line, availablity could have changed, depending on how many tickets the box office sent over. Aso ask if anything just came in (it might not have been posted yet).

We've sometimes gotten the best choices showing up at TKTS 30 minutes before show time and getting a good show's panic sales. You never can predict!

Saw "Boy from Oz' the end of March and it was fabulous! TKTS did offer tickets at that time, but we had just gotten out of the David Letterman show so my daughter, who lives in NY, and I went across the street from TKTS to the NY Visitor's Center and got coupons for 30% off which we took to the box office and immediately got tickets for that nights'performance. The line was too long at TKTS and we didn't want to chance it. Plus we could pay by credit card at the box office. So we saved 30% instead of 50% but it was well worth it just for the convenience.
