HELP! Places to stay in Florida Panhandle!

We live in Florida and decideded to take a "vacation" over the holidays to the Panhandle....hoping for an "out of the way" location.
Can anyone recommend a nice place to stay away from the crowds anywhere on the Panhandle????
Thanks!

This time of year there are no crowds in the panhandle unless you go to the malls. Destin is always nice as is Pensacola Beach. Perdido Key is very nice and it is a little more remote than the other locations. Most snowbirds arrive after the holidays so availability should be excellent. What are you looking to do on your get away? Knowing that would help. Good luck.

We are looking for nice lodging anywhere "out of the way".
We love to explore...historical, natural areas, beaches.
But, most of all....away from the crowds!

From what you say, I suggest you go to Pensacola Beach.
You will be away from the crowds, have a natural park right there, with the big plus of many historical things to see.
Go to Fort Pickens. Geronimo was once a "visiter".
You will also be in a good area that will be nice to take nice drives along the shore and go see both Destin and Perdido Key.
Go to Navarre and be secluded as well, just you and the sand pipers.
I hope you have fun and wish I was there now.

Definately consider Seaside, a resort community east of Destin. Beautiful and architecturally significant. It's like a trip back in time (with all the modern amenities, of course).

cedar,

Ted suggested Seaside, which my wife and I love. But I don't think it would meet your criterium of being out of the way. Next door to Seaside, so to speak, is the small, funky community of Grayton Beach--now that might fit the bill.

Have a great time!
