For restaurants around St. Patrick's, there's a really great Italian place called Caffe Linda, toward the East side. It's small, but the food is awesome.

Baraonda on the Upper East side is another consistently good Italian restaurant we really enjoy.

One of my favorite restaurants in NYC is Markt.

Blue Ribbon Bakery for brunch.

Sala One Nine for tapas.

Also, Stone Street is pretty cool if the weather is nice - a lot of bars and restaurants around there.
