This is the site for City Guides ,volunteer/docent guides through different parts of the city ,they just request a donation. Schedule and description of tours are listed on site. These are usually quite good and worth checking out.Enjoy our city.

I live within a couple hours of SF, so I usually do day trips. The last time I stayed there it was at the Ramada Limited in the South of Market area. It caters to the business traveler, with clean but unmemorable rooms. I only paid $79 per night, though, at the corporate rate. Its at 240 7th street. Parking was available, but it's "limited". Other places to consider include the San Remo, Commodore, and maybe the Chancellor at Union Square. Try 1-888-782-9673, ext 628. That's the number for the San Francisco Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Things to do include walking in Chinatown, North Beach, Market Street and in some of the neighborhoods like Noe Valley, Russian Hill and Pacific Heights. Of course, Fisherman's Wharf, Ghiradelli Square and Pier 39 are the usual tourist traps. Alcatraz, a ferry trip to Sausalito, a muni bus trip to Muir Woods, or a trip to Golden Gate park.
