I saw Avenue Q and Drowsy Chaperone, boh GREAT! Big difference between them, though. If you don't mind a little off color..Avenue Q . Chaperone had a great story, very entertaining.

I just saw Spelling Bee 2 weeks ago and was not that impressed. It had its funny moment but the set was a school gym and not as "spectacular" as a lot of other Bway musicals. I LOVED Avenue Q-it's raunchy, funny as hell, and absolutely hilarious. Jersey Boys was terrific as well. Spelling Bee should be Off-Bway, IMHO.

I really enjoyed Spring Awakening but it's more in the "rock" genre than a traditional Broadway musical. Drowsy Chaperone is pretty good if you want something fairly light and somewhat clever( I don't think it won the best musical Tony--wasn't that Jersey Boys?). I enjoyed Company but I had seen it before and like the show. Grey Gardens IMO features a fantastic performance by Christine Ebersole but I found the book somewhat disjointed. That said I agree with the idea that your DH might like Grey Gardens if he liked Sweeney Todd.
