Out of pure desperation for a short, inexpensive vacation in the sun, I impulsively bought one of those last minute el-cheapo travel packages for 3 nights in west palm beach. now i'm beginning to wonder what i've done. not knowing anything about florida, i figured as long as i can go snorkeling, play some tennis and sit on a beautiful beach, i'd be fine. but i'm not finding very much encouraging information on this or any other web sites. i was hoping those of you more knowledgable about florida might be able to offer some advice about things to do in west palm beach that would be fun and vacation-y. i figured as a back up i could just drive down to ft lauderdale to spice up my trip, but will that really be necessary? any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Should be plenty of sun for tennis and all. The public beach at WPB is really not bad at all -- must have been Donald Trump on the previous response, clearly not up to his standards, but if you are coming from up north and looking for sun and warm water you should do just fine.

Drive up to Jupiter's beach. Nicer in my opinion. Good luck!

Palm Beach is wonderful at anytime of the year. If you are beaching it, I would hit Singer Island/MacArthur State Park/Riviera Beach. While checking out the great shops on Worth Avenue in Palm Beach, grab a meal at Ta`Boo. If you are into antiques - look for Antique Row (written up in many magazines). There are also some nice restaurants on Clematis Street in West Palm, downtown.

There is plenty to see and do! This Michigander wishes he were there right now. Have a wonderful time.

Happy Trails,
Paul
