Please help suggest some good restaurants in Fort Lauderdale, FL. I will be spending 10 days there starting 3/15. Have not been there for years! Prefer gourmet, Italian, Seafood, and just good food! Thanks. All price ranges.

For starters, don't miss Mark's Las Olas, my favorite restaurant in all of Florida. It's trendy, refined yet casual, and simply has some of the most innovative and delicious food anywhere. Mark Miratello (sp?) is considered one of the top chefs in the country, but one of the few without his own TV show. If they have the whole crispy snapper go for it! A nice traditional French Restaurant is the Left Bank, and it is surprisingly reasonable. For fun go to 15th Street Fisheries on the Intracoastal in an "old warehouse" looking sort of building. Near it is the very casual and extemely popular Bimini Boathouse, also very reasonable. Don't miss having breakfast at the cheap and stand-in-line-to-wait Floridian on Las Olas. The ancient Mai-Kai is sort of a huge Polynesian tourist trap sort of place, but worth it if you imbibe in enough rum drinks, and the food can actually be good. One of the best Italian restaurants around is the plain looking Primavera in a strip shopping center on Oakland Park. It looks like nothing from outside, but is outstanding with a very authentic antipasta table. Sunday brunch at the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort is very nice; do they still have the harpist? Walk along Las Olas and you'll find many restaurants and cafes with menus posted that may also appeal to you. Indigo at the Riverside Hotel is quite good also, but a little overpriced to me. (Mark's Las Olas will be a little more expensive, but in my opinion is not at all "overpriced" -- it's worth every penny.) Have fun!
