We are trying to decide where to take a friend for his 21st birthday December 26 - 31 or thereabouts. We are 21, 23, 25 and 31. We are traveling from Philadelphia and our top three choices are San Diego, South Beach and New Orleans. Any input you can give us is appreciated.

personally I think that New Years in New Orleans can't be beat. It is such a rush and a lot like mardi gras but with half the people. Still plenty to have a great time but not so many that it is too crowded.

Go to New Orleans or South Beach! I love San Francisco, but it's not as much of a "party town" as NOLA or SB are...especially for college/young adults. NOLA and SB have a ton of bars and stay open really late so if you're looking for a wild b-day celebration those are my top two choices. It also depends on budget as SB can get REALLY expensive, whereas it's possible not to spend as much money in New Orleans.
