hawaii solo

hi,

first time poster here. Delta has a fare sale to hawaii from ny is $625 including tax (sale ends today). I don't know how much fare usually costs but it seems like a good price. I am thinking of going there for 2 weeks for the last 2 weeks of Nov. Does anybody have a suggested hotels or itenary for a single male age 32? My budget would be in the middle (not budget or luxurious). Thank you.

Aloha max,

Are you talking O'ahu? That is a great fare and end of the month/Dec would be great for catching some of the Triple Crown of Surfing Championships on the north shore O'ahu.

Tons of great places to stay... what are your interests, likes, dislikes in lodging?

You could spend months on O'ahu and come away wanting more time there.

Check out the "why I love Oahu too" thread just recently pulled up.

sorry I am not very familiar with Hawaii but the airport code is HNL. I am interested in relaxing at the beach or pool, hanging out with other single people, taking side trip to see the volcanos, snorkeling, be active in hawaiian culture and activies, etc.. What hotels do you recommend for the price range between $50 and $100? Should I just stay in one island or go to other islands too? Do I need to rent a car? Thank you for your help. I really looking forward to it.

Honolulu is that airport code and it is on the island of Oahu. You don't need a car on Oahu but can get by with public transportation, The Bus. Waikiki has the most people around as far as mixing & mingling. I've gone there solo several times.

But honestly a hotel room that cheap is going to be a bit of a trick, that would be considered shoe-string traveling in Hawaii. I like the Hawaiiana Hotel and it is budget, but still $105/night. Up on the North Shore I'm guessing you could find bungalows or B&B's cheaper.

If you want an active volcano you must go to Big Island instead. Or you can see the crater of Haleakala on Maui.

$625 is mighty sweet if you are flying from the east coast. www.kayak.com if you want to follow trends.

I have gone single to Hawaii max off Oahu you do find yourself alone a lot, sorry to say. That is fine if you are hiking but its not for everyone. Having said that you are a guy THERE ARE PROBABLY 5 of us for everyone 1 of YOU!!!

Why not aim for big wave season in December? You can't always count on big waves but you will also have the whales then.

Anytime is good to visit Honolulu.

Try the ilikai condo desk on the 2nd fl. You can get the number from the front desk. If you are state worker or fed government working call the ilikai proper and set a room (get break).

Are you a big hiker? You can go alone, I just think it is more of a honeymoon destination. If you want to wrap yourself up with long solatary hikes I DO THAT, Hawaii is a good place for that.

In Waikiki you always meet someone even if you are one of a million females there. I see those vegas commercials "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" Well that is also true of Waikiki. Its hysterical if you are at the Sheraton Moana during a convention total scene LOL.
