Both Islands are beautiful. Yes Hawaii has many Islands, but if you really want to Island hop, you could do the other ABC Islands: Bonaire and Curaçao. We liked visiting an Island for a week and it being a size that we could do most of the things we wanted in that time.
Aruba has fabulous food without braking the bank like Hawaii. It is one of the Caribbean Islands where the restaurants are so good (and things are so safe) that you do not want to do All Inclusive. You would miss too much.
Don't go to Aruba OR Hawaii with someone you just met on the internet, who just took out a huge insurance policy on you.

I understand that Duekey is referring to the two poor women that were (allegedly) killed in Aruba. I just can't understand why he/she used the term "bimbo" (in capitial letters, no less) in reference to these women. Why would anyone use such derogatory language towards a victim?

I have been to both islands. Hawaii is much more beautiful and lush. Aruba is a beautiful little island too and the people are very friendly. Their beaches are awesome. Almost better than Hawaii. The water is crystal clear and very warm and you can walk for miles. It's very warm with a constant breeze which I loved. If I had to choose, I would pick Hawaii, but I would go back to Aruba again for sure.

I'm thinking that the only BIMBO (all caps) is the logo for the largest bread company in the world http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Grupo_Bimbo_Logo.jpg. When used to describe that company (Grupo Bimbo), that's ok.
As for Dukey's use . . . that seems like something akin to the 1950s notion that rape victims usually "asked for it."

Been to OAHU x 2 and Maui x1 and Aruba x1 Going to Big Island. HI in September to dive with mantas
ARUBA...definitely...no contest! Went to Aruba in 2006.
Just enough of everything to be wonderful! Fabulous white sand beaches with palm trees. Warm water and sandy beach entrances. Never felt unsafe, even walking home from the casinos at night. Gourmet meals, with variety of fondue options from around $30.00 per person without drinks. (No I am not rich..but do know vacation value when I see it.) Multiple casinos, large enough to allow movement from machine to machine to enhance the experience. Casino at the dock in the city has a Las Vegas, topless revue...quite good, not the scale of Vegas, but you won't pay Vegas prices either for the show. Shopping at the flea market on the weekend was very cheap. Good quality golf shirts (they still look good) for $10.00. Plush 2 foot long iguanas for $10.00, and local musicians entertaining you while you shop. Duty free port. Excellent high end shopping also (I don't shop designer but was told by those who do)Variety of activities for a week for sure...scuba diving, snuba experience, ATVing, touring around the island is interesting. You can swim in a warm, little nature made pool on the coast. European flair to downtown district. I do want to go back there someday.

I guess that's why it helps if people tell us a bit more about what they like when they ask a question like this.
For me high end designer shopping, casinos and gambling, topless revues are NOT what I'm looking for on an island vacation!

(I've been there - thought the beach was gorgeous, but looking out at the oil rigs in the sea, not so much -- maybe they're no longer there?)
