Hawaii, Lahaina
We're planning a stay at a hotel four miles north of the town of Lahaina. Understand that parking is a problem in town.... and we enjoy walking. Is Honoapiilani Highway pedestrian friendly? Alternatively, is there safe parking within a mile or two of town leaving a easy walk in?
thanks

No, Honoapiilani Highway is absolutely not pedestrian friendly. Parking in Lahaina itself is not a difficult task. You may have to drive around a little bit, but you should be able to find a spot without too much effort. You may also find that you have better luck just parking your car in the lot.
I would not recommend at all that you park a mile or two away from town and try to walk in. This would be extremely unpleasant and unsafe!!
If you enjoy walking, you should park your car at the Hyatt and take the beachfront boardwalk to the Sheraton (about 1 mi) and beyond. That offers a safe long path to walk on with a great view (and with lots of restaurants and shops to offer a distraction if you need it).
