Hawaii honeymoon - maui?

I'd love to hear suggestions for which island and resort(s) to visit for our honeymoon to Hawaii in Jan 2002.

Jen, there was another similar thread going here a few days ago about Kauai versus Maui. We did both on our honeymoon and I much preferred Kauai. It was more of what I expected Hawaii to be, tropical and uncrowded. I'd recommend the Kiahuna Plantation Resort in Poipu Beach. Superior beach, great restaurant and the accomodations are suites/condos so you have more room to spread out and a kitchen to prepare your own breakfast. Maui, to me, was expensive and touristy. But there are many differing opinions! Look for those previous threads.

I have to cast my vote for Maui. Kauai is beautiful but so is Maui and there's so much more to do on Maui!

Just returned from Maui--loved it. We were deciding between the two islands as well and settled on Maui because we heard there was lots to do. The Four Seasons was incredible--perfect for a honeymoon. Very posh and very few children unlike many other resorts on Maui.

We love Maui. It is absolutly beautiful. Try to stay on the Lahaina/Kanapali/Kapalua side; much prettier. If youre not into huge resorts, there's a lovely place called Napili Sunset. Website: www.Napilisunset.com
Congatulations!

Jen,
My suggestion would be Maui but I vote for the Wailea area. The Outrigger is reasonable. A great find though is a condo rental at Grand Champions Villas in Wailea.

I second the Four Seasons Resort if you choose to honeymoon on Maui. The service is incredible. Beautiful beach, lovely rooms, great food. If you choose Kauai, stay at the Hyatt. The Princeville is also lovely. It's on the north side of the island - incredibly lush there, but I'm not sure how rainy it is in January.
