Hawaii Entertainment Book
I have read in the past that purchasing an Entertainment Book for Hawaii really saved people money on restaurants and activities. Has anyone used one there recently? We are more interested in using it for nicer/more expensive restaurants and possibly a helicopter tour or snorkel trip. Is is worth it? How much did you actually save on restaurants? We will be going Dec 27th thru Jan 9th. Are there blackout dates? Thanks.

You usually get two for one deals. It is mostly Oahu retailers. We always buy one and it pays for itself. If you plan on going to those fancy places or the activity shops it is a good deal. Blackout dates aren't on the food. They could be on some activities. I don't have mine handy right now.

According to entertainment book site, the 2004 editions are released in August - so very soon! I will be buying one - I was able to reserve a great rate at Renaissance Wailea with Entertainment rate!

2004 comes out in November. You can always look on Ebay for your copy. Some coupons are only good for certain islands so keep an eye out for one that the coupons for your destinations havent been used. If you do buy a new copy resell on ebay! Save money both ways. =)

Beware..the entertainment offers 50% discounts to certain hotels, which can be great. I just booked Hanelei Bay Resort and Kiahuna Plantation in Kauai and it's supposed to be 50% off the rack rates. I tried to book ocean views and several of the agents said they were all booked. I then said I was very very flexible with the dates and still, no rooms. I did get one honest agent to say that you can only get certain rooms for 50% off. We had a VERY limited choice. Great rates if you don't mind having the garden views. Good Luck.
