I came upon this site accidentally while trying to find a place to vacation for a few days. Its incredible to see the small community that's grown here. It would probably make a great television series. This is the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. Thanks all for the entertainment.

Dear Arnie,
Thank you for finally posting, although what you finally posted after all this time had nothing to do with the story! I am a heartfelt person, and I'm sorry for what you've gone through but please finish the story or at least end it with an honest answer meaning that you can't finish it! This is ridiculous...and I'm ashamed that I am even responding...

Hello.
My name is Will Taylor. I live in Perry Park, Colorado and have known Arnie and his wife for about eight years.
Recently, Arnie's wife Anee informed me that Arnie had been frequenting this web site and relaying a story based on a place they once stayed. She told me that she had been intending to visit this site but didn't currently have the heart. She asked if I would be so kind as to do it for her.
There is no easy way to say this but Arnie died of a massive heart attack on July 8th of this year. I know it would have meant a lot to him to know that many of you still came here in the hopes that his story would be finished. Unfortunately, that is not possible now.
Arnie was no spring chicken. He lived a good and full life and was loved and respected by all who knew him. He served in a war, raised a family and was wealthy in the only currency that really matters: friends.
Anee has expressed a desire to come here and make a statement of her own and I'm sure that, in time, she will.
Because Arnie passed before getting his office back together, Anee still doesn't have computer access; however, we (Anee's and Arnie's friends) are going to help remedy that situation in the very near future.
Thank you to all who helped to make Arnie's final months worthwhile.
Will Taylor

I am very sorry to hear of Arnie's passing. If Will or Anee, in time come back on the sight, Please tell us where the information came from, so we can hear the end, or check out the book. Arnie said his wife read up on the this and he got the story from her notes. Either way it was a great story...God Bless you and your family.

just found you guys on this astounding thread tonight. didn't follow arnie's novella; however, i was thoroughly engrossed in following your emotionally gripping bouts of the waiting game which imho you all played with beau brummel class and style. now, if arnie did indeed actually die, I would like to believe he will now go on to haunt the fodors site. may i also use this post as a testimonial from all of us to arnie for sharing his time and creativity through his sequential novella which was substantiated by all your eager posts. here's to all of us livin' it up and to arnie restin' in peace.

I emailed a library in Maine to see if they had ever heard of this story...here was the reply.
I could find no reference to a book entitled "Unholy evil..." by A. Norman.
I searched local and world-wide catalogs to no avail. It is unclear to me
whether this book is a work of fiction or not. I was unable to find any
information on Cyrus Aeckney, the Aeckney Inn, or Van der Hout. I was
unable to locate Hadleyburg on a map of Maine. I'm not sure what else we
can do to help you locate this 'story'.

I first was going to recount a recent stay in a haunted bed and breakfast, until I started following the thread.
All I can say is amazing, I can tell nothing to follow this story and story within the story.
Arnie, I hope you become the ghost in the machine. Vaya con Dios.
